What does home mean in this precarious modern world?

‘Cost of Living’ (2024) is a site-specific new media film made for the Piccadilly Lights screen. It depicts a home in cycles of order and increasingly violent disarray before its walls come apart and its contents break free. The work gestures to the precarious nature of ‘home’—a universal right challenged by predatory housing markets and violent invasions causing mass displacement.

However, instability also invites possibility, carving out a space for radical reimagination and a departure from the status quo. The film presents cycles of disorder that eventually culminate in the dismantling of the boundaries that confined the ‘home,’ embracing the void and endless possibilities it holds.
